Steady Venture, steady I held onto his neck as he skidded on some new frost from the night. Feeling him pick himself up, I held back onto the reins and guided him onto softer ground and only the glinting of frost was shown. Allowing him to make his way across the field and giving him a lose rein, I looked around at the pasture we were riding through. I didn't no anyone and so was all alone, well I had Venture. That was enough for me. Zipping up my blue coat, I shivered slightly and waited for a few more minutes to pass before clicking my tounge and squeezing his silken sides into a nice settled trot. Rising neatly in and out of the saddle and going with his beat, I smiled and gave him more rein knowing he wouldn't stop. He loves to go long distances at a trot. It kep him fit and it kept me fit.
Half an hour sped by and we were still going across the land at a trot. Ventures ears were pinned forward and he was enjoying every moment of it. Patting his neck, I gently pulled back and slowed him to a walk and then halt. Leaning forward, I hugged his warm neck and whispered Good boy, good boy He seemed to understand what I was saying and stamped his hooves and scrapped at the ground in happiness. I loved him so much. Clicking my tounge, I felt him pick up his pace into a nice walk and we carried on our ride but our happiness was not to last. Over the far distant mountains, large amounts of darkened clouds appeared bringing with them rain and lighting. A storm was heading their way...
